The idea of ​​holding the National Week for Occupational Safety and Health:

The idea was launched in cooperation between the Ministry of Labor represented by the Occupational Safety and Health Directorate (at that time) and the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health of the Vocational Training Corporation and with the support of the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) at the end of 2003 and the beginning of 2004 for the purpose of the benefit from the Japanese experience in this field, which began in 1928. The idea of ​​holding this week was adopted as an annual national, scientific and media effort, to be held in the first week of July of each year, to raise public awareness of occupational safety and health and to reduce work injuries and occupational diseases because of their negative economic and social impacts on our society.

In the 10th week, it was announced that the subsequent national weeks would be held in April, coinciding with the World Day for Occupational Safety and Health, emanating from the International Labor Organization.

Week goals:
First: Raising the general level in the field of occupational safety and health for all production elements and throughout the country.
Second: Increasing the understanding of employers, labour and all segments of society of the benefits of investing in the field of safety.
Third: Developing, functioning and activating communication, coordination and participation among all relevant authorities in the field of occupational safety and health in the Kingdom.
Fourth: Delivering the safety message to each work site and to all members of society, including the home and even the street, to be an opportunity to consolidate occupational safety and health concepts and behaviors.

The 15th National Week for Occupational Safety and Health of 2019
The Occupational Safety and Health Directorate organized the events of the 15th National Week for Occupational Safety and Health during the period 28/04 – 02/05/2019 under the slogan “Occupational Safety and Health is a Culture of Society,” in line with the slogan of the World Day for Occupational Safety and Health launched by the International Labor Organization under the same slogan

The most prominent events of the 15th National Week:
Create a Facebook page for the Occupational Safety and Health Directorate to launch the events of the National Week in general and announce the drawing competition for school students in particular, where the likes of the page amounted to nearly 4500, page views reached 22.154, interactions with the posts on the page reached 14.5964 and page posts reached 183.558 people only throughout 14 days.
Coordination, organization and supervision of a drawing competition for school students at the Kingdom level, in which nearly 40 schools participated, which resulted in more than 360 participations from students of these schools, and thousands of people interacted with them by displaying it on the Facebook page of the Occupational Safety and Health Directorate.
Coordination, supervision and preparation for the opening ceremony of the events of the National Week, which was held at Al Hussein Cultural Center under the auspices of the Minister of Labor and in the presence of representatives of employers, trade unions and relevant government authorities, where the attendance of the ceremony amounted to more than 150 people.
Coordination, preparation and supervision of the drawing of four murals for occupational safety and health in a number of industrial cities in the three regions of the Kingdom.
Coordinating and holding awareness workshops in various governorates of the Kingdom during the national week, which targeted different segments of school and university students, labour and employers, where number of workshops held during this period reached 13 workshops.
Designing and preparing an awareness video regarding work injuries and their direct and indirect effects, as the number of views of the video reached 3000 within 14 days, and the Jordan Telecom Company (Orange) and the Amman Chamber of Industry expressed their desire to adopt and publish the video.
Sending text messages aimed at raising awareness of occupational safety and health through the Jordan Telecom Company (Orange) in various regions of the Kingdom.

The 14th National Week for Occupational Safety and Health of 2018
The Occupational Safety and Health Directorate, in cooperation with the Better Work Jordan project of the International Labor Organization, organized the events of the 14th National Week for Occupational Safety and Health, during the period 28/04 – 02/05/2019 under the slogan “A Safe and Healthy Generation.” This is in line with the slogan of the World Day for Occupational Safety and Health, which was launched by the International Labor Organization under the same slogan.

The most prominent events of the 14th National Week:
Coordination, supervision and preparation for the opening ceremony of events of the National Week, which was held in a hotel under the auspices of the Minister of Labor and in the presence of representatives of employers, trade unions and relevant government authorities, where the attendance of the ceremony amounted to more than 150 people, where an Occupational Safety and Health Handbook for Child Labor was launched and an awareness video entitled "Safety in the workplace" was published.
The 6th National Conference on Occupational Safety and Health was held under the title “Occupational Safety and Health Administration” on 30/04/2018 with the participation of the General Organization for Social Security, the General Directorate of Civil Defense, a Better Work Project/International Labor Organization, the Federation of Environmental Associations and representatives of employers and labour.
Coordinating and holding awareness workshops in various governorates of the Kingdom during the national week, which targeted different segments of school and university students, labour and employers, where number of workshops held during this period reached 5 workshops.
Design, preparation and launching an awareness video under the title "Safety in the workplace", with the support of the International Labor Organization.
Organizing an awareness march with the participation of all sectors of society, including school students, to deliver the message to all members of Jordanian society under the title “A Safe and Healthy Generation and together to combat Child Labor” on Tuesday, 01/05/2018 at 10 A.M. for two hours. Where the starting point was from the Vocational Unions Complex/ Shmeisani and the end point was Al Thaqafa Street, in coordination and cooperation with the Civil Defense, to implement a mock firefighting experiment through the Rescue Academy for Occupational Safety and Health during the march on Tuesday in the yard of the Vocational Unions Complex. Color books with drawings related to occupational safety and health and a bag contains an apple and products manufactured in cooperation with the Made in Jordan campaign, in addition to a case contains a bashkir, hand sanitizer, toothpaste, T-shirts and caps were distributed with support of private sector companies.
Preparing and designing several awareness brochures and posters:
-          Printing 4000 brochures with 2000 copies of each topic under the following titles (Safety Culture) and (Safety in the Workplace) with the support of the Better Work Program Jordan/ International Labor Organization.
-          4000 posters with 2000 copies of each topic with the following titles: (Occupational Safety and Health is Everyone’s Responsibility) and (Work Safely and Back Safely to Your Family)
-          Printing 1000 coloring books (containing drawings in the field of occupational safety and health) + color boxes in cooperation with the Jordan Modern Oil & Fuel Services Company/ Manaseer, which were distributed to school students participating in the march and the awareness workshops.
-          Printing 2000 brochures under the title "Child Labor" in cooperation with the private sector.

The 13th National Week for Occupational Safety and Health of 2016
The Section of Inspection, of Occupational Safety and Health Department, organized the events of the 15th National Week for Occupational Safety and Health during the period 24-28/04/2016 under the slogan “Stress at Work: A Collective Challenge”, in line with the slogan of the World Day for Occupational Safety and Health, which was launched by the International Labor Organization under the same slogan.

The most prominent events of the thirteenth national week:
Coordination, supervision and preparation for the opening ceremony of the National Week events, which was held in a hotel under the auspices of the Minister of Labor and in the presence of representatives of employers, trade unions and representatives of the relevant government authorities.
Establishing an exhibition on occupational safety and health equipment on the sidelines of the opening ceremony, with extensive participation of relevant authorities in the private sector, the Ministry of Health, the General Directorate of Civil Defense, the General Organization for Social Security and the Vocational Training Corporation.
The 5th National Conference on Occupational Safety and Health was held under the title “Stress at Work: A Collective Challenge” on 24/04/2016, with the participation of the General Organization for Social Security, the General Directorate of Defense and representatives of employers and labour.
Coordinating and holding awareness workshops in various governorates of the Kingdom during the national week, which targeted different segments of school and university students, labour and employers, where number of workshops held during this period reached 7 workshops.
Preparing and designing several awareness brochures and posters:
-          Printing 4000 brochures with 2000 copies of each topic under the following titles (Risk Assessment), (Workplace Stress) and (Heat Stress) with the support of the USAID program.
-          Printing 4,000 copies of the second edition of the Occupational Safety and Health Handbook with the support of USAID
-          Printing 2000 poster with the following titles: (Methods of Preventing Heat Stress at Work) and (Promotional poster for the week)

The 12th National Week for Occupational Safety and Health of 2015
Holding the events of the 12th national week during the period between 26-30/04/2015 under the slogan “Towards a Work Environment free of Work Accidents and Injuries,” in line with the slogan of the World Day for Occupational Safety and Health launched by the International Labor Organization under the slogan “Strengthening Building a Culture of Prevention in the Field of Occupational Safety and Health.”

The most prominent events of the 12th national week:
Coordination, supervision and preparation for the opening ceremony of the National Week events, which was held in a hotel under the auspices of the Minister of Labor and in the presence of representatives of employers, trade unions and representatives of relevant government authorities. The opening ceremony included the presentation of a representative scene by Uncle Ghafel/ actor Hussein Tabishat on occupational safety and health entitled “Your Safety First.” A memorandum of understanding was signed with the Social Security Corporation, and a workshop was held on the sidelines of the opening ceremony entitled “Occupational Safety and Health between legislation and enforcing.”
The National Conference held the 4th National Conference on Occupational Safety and Health under the title “Safety in the Construction Sector” on 04/28/2015, with the participation of the General Organization for Social Security, the General Directorate of Civil Defense and representatives of employers and labour.
Coordinating and holding awareness workshops in various governorates of the Kingdom during the national week, which targeted different segments of school and university students, labour and employers, where number of workshops held during this period reached 7 workshops.
Preparing and printing five specialized brochures in occupational safety and health on the following topics:
1.      Reinforcement works
2.      Scaffolding in construction work
3.      Work injuries
4.      Risk assessment
5.      Promotional brochure of the week
Preparing and printing a brochure on safety procedures in the construction sector.

The 11th National Week for Occupational Safety and HEALTH of 2014
Holding the events of the 11th national week in the period between 28/04 - 04/05/2014 under the slogan “Safety Begins with You.”

The most prominent events of the 11th national week:
Coordination, supervision and preparation for the opening ceremony of the events of the National Week, which was held in a hotel under the auspices of the Minister of Labor and in the presence of representatives of employers, trade unions and representatives of relevant government authorities. The opening ceremony included screening of a short film on occupational safety and health, the National Week for Safety and Health, and the launch of the national description for occupational safety and health.
The National Conference held the 3rd National Conference for Occupational Safety and Health under the title “Amendment of Occupational Safety and Health Legislation in Jordanian Law” on 04/05/2014, with the participation of the General Organization for Social Security, the General Directorate of Civil Defense and representatives of employers and labour.
Coordinating and holding awareness workshops in various governorates of the Kingdom during the national week, which targeted different segments of school and university students, workers and employers, where number of workshops held during this period reached 3 workshops in the three regions of the Kingdom.
The second engineering forum for occupational safety and health was held in cooperation with the Prince Hussein II Academy for Civil Protection and the JICA Alumni Association Jordan. 
Preparing and printing four brochures specialized in occupational safety and health, with 2000 brochures for each of the following topics:
·         Storage and transportation of materials in warehouses
·         Some physical hazards in the workplace
·         Hand signals
·         Hazards of using agricultural machinery
Preparing and printing three posters, with 1000 posters for each of the following topics:
·         The necessary preliminary measures in the event of a work injury
·         Avoid slips, trips and falls in the workplace
Preparing and printing 2500 copies of the national description for occupational safety and health.

The 16th National Week for Occupational Safety and Health of 2021
The Occupational Safety and Health Directorate organized the events of the 16th National Week for Occupational Safety and Health during the period between 28/04 - 04/05/2021) under the slogan "Towards a Safe Summer".
The events of the 16th National Week for Occupational Safety and Health are as follows:
-          Launching an awareness-raising inspection campaign on the importance of receiving the Corona vaccine for labour at the Kingdom level and distributing posters in five languages ​​most prevalent among workers, which were printed in cooperation with the International Labor Organization to encourage receiving the vaccine by registering on the platform vaccine.jo.
-          A seminar at Middle East University entitled “The Role of the Ministry of Labor in Addressing the Corona Pandemic.”
