King Abdullah II Award

About the Award

The Royal High Will was issued to establish the King Abdullah II Award for Excellence in Government Performance and Transparency on September 4, 2002, with the aim of improving and developing the performance of government ministries and institutions in the service of Jordanian citizens and investors, by raising awareness of the concepts of outstanding performance, quality and transparency, highlighting the outstanding efforts of public sector institutions and presenting their achievements in the development of their systems and services, and to be the highest award for excellence in the public sector at the national level. The award aims to root  a culture of excellence in the public sector based on three foundations: focusing on service recipients, focusing on results and transparency.


Vision

Rooting the culture of excellence within the government institutions in Jordan, so that institutions and individuals work to excel in their performance to reach or outperform optimal international practices.


Message

To provide an environment that helps to create a culture of excellence and spread it in institutions by setting standards that lay the foundations for excellence and support the policies, programs and incentives that lead to it.


Goals

The award aims to bring about a qualitative shift and development in the performance of government ministries and institutions in the service of Jordanian citizens and investors and enhance their competitiveness, by raising awareness of the concepts of outstanding performance, creativity, quality and transparency, as well as rooting the culture of excellence based on three global foundations of the best practices of modern governments.

The main objective of the award is to ensure that the government sector performs the duties and tasks assigned to it to the fullest and with high levels of quality, efficiency and professionalism, hence the King Abdullah II Award for excellence in government performance and transparency came to reflect the appreciation of the national leader of the outstanding government institutions in their performance, productivity, services, projects, programs, plans and working methods, and distinguished employees in these institutions. The award also aims to promote the exchange of experiences between public sector institutions and share success stories with each other in successful management practices.


The Ministry of Labour was awarded the King Abdullah II Award for Excellence in Government Performance and Transparency - 6th Session (2012-2013)
